The Swordmaster of Hoeth
| The Order of the Swordmasters has the purpose of guarding against
all intruders the magical White tower of Hoeth in the enchanted land of Saphery. Years and
years of training in this shrine to the elven god of wisdom have given these elves
unsurpassable skills in combat and a prowess unmatched among others of their race.
Combining absolute knowledge of both the ways of the body and of the mind, the
Swordmasters' official weapon is the elegant but deadly elven greatsword, a long and heavy
blade they alone are capable of wielding with such ease that to someone watching them
fighting it may seem totally weightless. Special Rules Mighty slash: If the Swordmaster inflicts a critical hit against an opponent in hand-to-hand combat he may use his free attack against another adjacent enemy model rather than the one the hero was attacking. This attack represents the Swordmaster using long slashing movements of the sword to attack more than one enemy. Weapon Mastery: The Swordmaster is an expert in the use of the two-handed greatsword. Years and years of training have given him the ability to fumble only on a roll of 1, rather than the usual 1 or 2. A claymore usually fumbles only on a 1, so the Swordmaster never fumbles when using one. The same applies to magic greatswords that only fumble on a roll of 1. Equipment: Swordmasters may use any armour except for the iron plate mail (far too heavy). He may use weapons other than the two-handed sword or the Claymore, but will loose both his Mighty Slash and his Weapon Mastery abilities by doing so. High elf: Swordmasters come from the race of the High Elves and follow the rules for Magic Affinity as all members of this race do. This means that they may use items that use charges and that are usually restricted to Wizards and read magic scrolls in the same way as Warrior-mages (with an Int test). |
